On this 21 March 2019, at IPRC Kigali Stadium, Rwanda Polytechnic celebrated its Second Graduation with 2,088 graduating students who have been awarded Diploma and Advanced Diploma after completing studies in different programs in academic year 2017/2018 in eight constituent colleges of RP.
The Minister of Education , Dr. Eugene MUTIMURA said that the government ‘s ambitious target is to increase enrollment in TVET up to 60% by 2024 compared to students enrolled in general education, increase the number of TVET schools, engage and increase ownership of private sector to TVET education system, provide adequate training resources and consumables, upgrading TVET trainers with technical and pedagogical skills as well as providing in-country and abroad industrial exposure for both trainers and students adding that this should go together with quality TVET delivery.
The Vice Chancellor of RP Dr. James Gashumba assumed that RP takes seriously the responsibility of training and equipping the young people with professional skills for the current and emerging labour market and updating of their skills in an ever-changing technological era. He also said that RP strives for enhancing their capacity for lifelong learning and good citizenship.
Dr. James Gashumba also acknowledged the efforts that the government and partners have put into TVET.
“We really acknowledge the efforts that the government of has been putting in TVET development and also appreciate the contributions and supports of all TVET Development partners and private sector in process of improving the quality of TVET education.” Dr. Gashumba said.He requested graduants to wake up and build on the knowledge, skills and attitude their acquired to prove themselves to the world.

Through its eight colleges designated as ''Integrated Polytechnic Regional Colleges'' (IPRCs) which are: IPRC Gishari, IPRC Huye, IPRC Karongi, IPRC Kigali, IPRC Kitabi, IPRC Musanze, IPRC Ngoma, and IPRC Tumba, the graduands have been awarded Advanced Diploma & Diploma certificates in different fields namely Civil Engineering, Irrigation and Water Engineering, Agriculture Engineering, Hospitality Management, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Wildlife Management, Wildlife Tourism, Forest Resources Management, Mechanical Engineering, Information and Communication Technology, Mining Engineering. Those include 464 females and 1624 males.
Rwanda Polytechnic held its maiden graduation ceremony on June 28, 2018 with a total number of 1,882 graduates. During the ceremony, awards were given to the best performing students from each college and to the overall best female and to best project.
