On this 15th July 2019, the Vice Chancellor of Rwanda Polytechnic Dr. James Gashumba awarded a laptop machine to BIGIRIMFURA Shero a student from IPRC Kigali who was the best winner of WordSkills Competition held at Kigali- Rwanda from 20th to 23rd November 2018.
In a 3 -days intensive competition held at IPRC Kigali and which had brought together 33 competitors and delegates across the globe who were commissioned to showcase and exhibit their skills in different trades including; Mechatronics, Electrical Wiring, Cooking, Welding, Plumbing, Brick Laying and Hairdressing.
Shero Bigirimfura who competed in Plumbing was among the best Rwandan performers with other winners of golden medals including; Abayo Himbaza Enock in Electrical Wiring, Kicaro Ngabo Victor in Welding, Mukabalisa Channela in Hairdressing and Turinayo Janvier in Brick Laying.
Shero Bigirimfura said the machine will support him in skills development as we are in digital era and in search for the job.
The Africa Skills Competition that was held in Rwanda from 21st - 23rd November 2018 was organized by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with Rwanda Polytechnic, Workforce Development Authority(WDA), World Skills International, FESTO DIDICTIC, TVET Development partners and other Stakeholders.
